Etihad Airways to expand operations in India; to start Kolkata-Abu Dhabi service from March 2023

Etihad Airways is set to expand its flight operations in India by introducing additional services to Ahmedabad, Chennai, Cochin, and Delhi, commencing early next year. The airline recently revealed its plans to inaugurate a daily flight route to Kolkata from Abu Dhabi, starting on March 26, 2023, thereby offering a total of seven weekly non-stop services to the City of Joy.

These flights will be operated using an Airbus A320 aircraft, featuring 8 business class seats and 150 economy class seats, as outlined in an official statement. Alongside the resumption of air connections to Kolkata, Etihad aims to enhance its network by increasing services to Ahmedabad (reaching 2 daily flights) and Chennai (twice daily). Cochin is also scheduled to receive an additional 6 flights per week, bringing the total to 13 flights per week from March 26, 2023.

Furthermore, starting April 24 next year, Etihad Airways plans to introduce an extra daily service to both Delhi and Mumbai. The reintroduction of flights to Kolkata, coupled with the increased frequency on other routes, will significantly amplify Etihad’s presence in India, elevating weekly flights from 77 to 118, according to the airline spokesperson.

Martin Drew, Senior Vice President for Global Sales & Cargo at Etihad Airways, expressed, “Our return to Kolkata will also coincide with our move to double daily flights to New York, facilitating enhanced access between India and the United States via Abu Dhabi. Guests can take advantage of our US pre-clearance facility for a seamless arrival into the states.”
